Why Do I Have an Orientation Class Without Dogs?
If you’ve signed up for one of my group training classes, or you're wanting to, you’ll notice the first session is for humans only—no dogs allowed. And no, it’s not a mistake!
This orientation session is a vital part of setting everyone up for success. Here’s why:
• Less Stress, More Focus: Without dogs in the room, we can focus on the what and why of training without distractions (or barking!).
• Clear Expectations: We go over how the class works, what to bring, and how to handle common challenges. You’ll feel more confident walking into the next week.
• Better Results: When you understand the techniques before practicing them with your dog, you’re less likely to get frustrated—and more likely to see progress.
• Safety First: We talk about dog-to-dog interactions, how to safely manage our dogs in a group setting, and how to recognize stress signals. That way, everyone stays safe and supported.
Think of it as your “dog training game plan” session. Your pup may be the star of the show, but you’re the coach—and orientation is your first playbook meeting.
Let me know if you have any questions, and I can’t wait to see you in class!
